Why I started Hidden Voices
Undocumented people in Curaçao live in silence.
Without rights, without access to asylum, and always at risk of being exposed.
During the pandemic, I listened to their stories — full of fear, strength, and dignity.
Many remain hidden, but their voices deserve to be heard.
With Hidden Voices, I want to create awareness.
By protecting their identities and sharing their words, I hope to give them something they are often denied: visibility, recognition, and a voice in our society.
The Hidden Voices of Undocumented Venezuelans on Curaçao
The world hears about Venezuela. The shortages, the politics, the international headlines.
But behind the numbers are real people. People who fled, who crossed borders, and who now live undocumented and invisible.
This project gives space to their stories.
To the students, professionals, parents and workers now forced to live in the shadows of our society without rights, without protection, without visibility.
Through Hidden Voices, their words become part of the conversation.
Not through statistics or distant policies, but through honest, human stories.
I hope this project opens hearts and inspires support for those living in hiding, by showing who they truly are.
With heartfelt thanks
