Why did you decide to go to Curacao?
Well, I decided to go to Curacao to give my children a good, academic education. I didn’t earn enough money in Venezuela to provide for this, I hope to achieve this in Curacao.
What kind of help do you need here in Curacao?
At this moment? I need help finding work! Once in a while I have a small job, but I would like to have permanent work. It’s very difficult for me to send money to my children and also to survive here.
How do you see your future?
If I had a chance to bring my family over here, I would certainly do so. Here I can give my children better opportunities, but unfortunately I can’t afford it.
What would you do if the situation in Venezuela changes?
If the situation changes I would invest money in Venezuela.
Is there anything you would like to say or add concerning your situation?
What I would like to say has everything to do with the fact that I’m illegal here.
For me – as a Venezuelan – it means that I can be persecuted, that I’m verbally abused and that there is an ongoing fear that I will be arrested by the police. I always fear being reported by someone from Curacao. This causes so much stress. I don’t know…. for us “illegals” as they call us, it would be so helpful to be officially admitted. God bless us.
